♪ I’ve thought about us for a long, long time but never did get around to writing a post. ♪
Michael is in remission and is doing well except for dry skin on his face. He will see a Dermatologist about. He is back at work and loving it. He is not a guy who enjoys sitting around for to long.
I have been working at the grade school. It started out one on one with a special needs boy. Our district doesn’t have a facility for special education so we work on getting them placed on another district with special education. I worked with this precious boy for a month and then he was transferred.
After that, I have been in the role of substitute paraprofessional. Paraprofessionals work with children who are not up to grade level in: reading, writing, and math.
I get up each day at 5:00 a.m. to be ready if they call me in that day. One of the paraprofessionals quit so for a while I worked most days (one of the many reasons blogging wasn’t on my to do list) They filled that job so my subbing will be less.
I’m actually trying to find a part time job. This applying on line stinks. I’m much better in person. Especially when I have a ten year gap because I homeschooled my boys. Seems like most companies want recent experience. I would love to do clerical work in the district but people don’t give up those jobs very often.
I’m trusting in God to close the doors where He doesn’t want me to work and open the doors where He does want me to work.
The boys are doing well in school. Good grades and good behavior. Joshua will play baseball beginning at the end of February. He plans on continuing in Cross Country in the Fall. I think Nicholas might join track in the spring. He has been in a wrestling club and likes it.
On the farm front drum roll please…….In a six day period of time our goats gave birth to 15 babies. Twelve are boys and three are girls. I’m working on pictures and maybe a video.

Hi Karen – So good to hear from you. I loved hearing that Michael is doing well and in remission. Wonderful news. Will be praying you find just the right job. You have so many skills you could go in any direction. That’s the challenge for you me thinks – over qualification. Not a bad problem to have. Congrats on all the babies. Always busy at Salt Creek. Glad to hear all is well, and that Michael is doing better now. In regards to work, do you list on a resume your work for the Christian Conference? That was a big job. Ask one of the leaders of OceaNetwork for a reference. When my time comes to go back to an “outside” job, after a few more years homeschooling Hannah, I will definitely list all the work I’ve done with our co-op and the tutoring I’ve done there. But, I’ve been thinking too of going back to school for myself. Not sure for what though. And not sure I want to do more “schooling.”
We all; you, Kirsten, and I should get together some day for a long lunch somewhere. Blessings to you. Love your pictures of the goats! Wish our household had the stamina for them, but two dogs seem to keep us busy. Not even a chicken here (which I would love also).

Yes! we need to all get together for lunch. Part of the problem finding a job is me. I only want part time and would like to not work weekends. I would love to get a job as a teller at a bank but those jobs are popular. I have two resumes, one for my teaching and all I did within the homeschool community. Then another based on my career 16 years ago. I don’t want to go back to school. Mostly because I don’t want any debt. Still trying to recover from two years of health issues.Let’s plan on scheduling a get together. Hey, maybe come to my house and play with baby goats.

I’m glad to hear from you, too! Wondered about the job hunting, where you ended up and hopefully I was able to help, as you requested. I suspected that you were probably meeting yourself coming and going (my mother used to say that) with expectant mama goats, work/school and family. How are the bees? Ours are busy! I have only four now, but they seem to be in pretty good shape; even saw a little brood in the most active hive. The season is starting early this year! Let me know if you want an extra hand with yours.
Glad Michael is doing well and the boys, too. Richard is doing well, though has a medical procedures scheduled for early April – that is a bit of a story to tell about later. The Turners are all doing well with the charter school, and seem to like it. We, as in Richard and I, go on the field trips – fun! I never had a field trip when I was in school, but I take the opportunity whenever I can.
