Our pond is surrounded by trees. When we moved here there were a lot of trees. Four years later and the trees are huge. In this picture you can see a Great Blue Heron in a Willow tree. The branch it is sitting on was horizontal to the ground.

Michael and the boys started to work on cutting down two trees on Saturday. Unfortunately, there was a little accident. Michael was using the chain saw and the branch he was sawing off was under pressure and it snapped back and hit his left arm and ribs. Thankfully nothing was broken. However, his arm swelled up instantly. He had a Garmin Vivofit (fitness tracker) on his wrist and his arm above it swelled with blood instantly. It was a little scary but he wrapped it and took the rest of the day off. If you believe that last sentence, you don’t know my husband very well. By afternoon he was back at it using the chain saw to clean up the stump of the first tree they cut down.

This picture was taken during the winter.  That big leafless tree in the center is what we cut down on Monday.

Cutting Down Trees Around the Pond

Here is what it looks like without those two trees

It is nice to have more sunlight in that area.
