Mouse’s due date was March 22. She didn’t have her babies on March 22. She did not have them on March 23, she did not have them here or there, she did not have them in a box, she did not have them with a fox….I digress.

YEAH! She lost her ligaments on Friday morning. ♪ Woo Hoo, woo hoo♪  (hands in the air).

Michael got home early in the morning on that Thursday. He had very little sleep that night so when Friday night came around he asked Joshua to sleep on the cot in the barn. He didn’t want me to do it because I had had a busy week. I didn’t want him to do it because he needed sleep. I won. I went out to the barn about 11:00 p.m. and tried to sleep. I couldn’t sleep for two reasons. One, I was cold. Two, I was afraid the chipmunk that lives in the barn and steals black oil sunflower seeds would crawl over me while I slept.

It was 3:40 in the morning when I heard Mouse in labor. I quickly got up, found the flashlight and donned my boots. She was definitely in labor. She had a large bubble filled with liquid coming out. As I watched, I noticed two feet and a head. I felt it was best to pop the bubble. Gush. That first little girl came out quickly.

I decided to call Michael only because I thought he would enjoy being there and helping. He was actually already up, eating a bowl of granola.

Together we helped her with the other baby girl. Helped dry them off . Helped show them where to nurse. It is really amazing, they come out wanting food and they are in search right away. However, they will suck on anything. My pants, the corner of the feeder, etc. They know who momma is but usually get the wrong end. It is important that we stay until we see that they have both nursed.

We also weighed them. One was 4 lbs and the other was 3 lbs 11 ounces.

We have Mouse in the same stall as Oreo. I’m hoping that Oreo’s single baby will make friends with Mouse’s girls. After seeing how bonded the siblings groups are, it makes me sad to see her single all alone.

Ok, enough with the suspense. Here are the pictures,
