I found these pictures that Karen had taken in June 2020, and we never shared them.

We have a terraced hillside above our pond which is where a portion of our Apple and Pear Orchard is located. It is very popular with the deer in the summer and its common for us to watch the deer passing through the property early in the morning. But this time we shared the morning with a couple of young bucks making their way through our orchard helping themselves to some fresh apple leaves. I don’t mind as long as they leave our newly planted trees alone. You can see they are still in velvet, which I don’t get to see as often.

They have such amazing eyesight and hearing. I barely opened our door onto the deck, as slowly and silently as I could, and of course he saw me right away.

You can see below they enjoy resting in the upper orchard. And the one is munching on some Granny Smith leaves.

They then decided to move along down towards the pond.

And eventually went thru the open gate into the lower pasture.

I must say those two young bucks sure look healthy. And warm too. It sure looks a lot warmer back in these pictures from June of 2020 than is feels right now in February 2022, where our weather station says it’s 25F outside.

Hopefully we get some warmer days soon as I am getting antsy for growing and planting season.

until next time,

Michael
