Just a quick little post to tell you about our Saturday. We went to see the new Star Wars movie, “The Force Awakens”. It did not disappoint.

We actually bought our tickets in October when they first went on sale on Fandango. We opted to go to Bridgeport Village which is about forty-five minutes away.

The whole place was decorated for Christmas which added to the fun.

We arrived early. No point in purchasing tickets more than two months ahead of time and not getting great seats. Happily, when we arrived they were prepared for people to form a line inside the theater. Just to let you know, December to date has been the wettest December in Portland in seventy-five years. We were very grateful for the accommodations.

So yes, we stood in line for an hour. We bought ridiculously expensive hot dogs and ate our “lunch” in line.

We were able to get excellent seats. The theater filled up quickly and then we sat for more than a half hour watching all the “commercials”. Previews are always a favorite. Is it me or is Hollywood just not making too many great movies anymore? Out of the ten or so previews we saw there was only one movie I would want to see.

The movie itself was EXCELLENT. The best Star Wars movie since the original three (Episodes four, five, and six). It was especially fun because there was a lot of reaction from the audience. I don’t like spoilers so I can’t be too specific but at certain points (the music and wording across the screen in the beginning) most people to clapped.

The new characters are great. The acting was great. The special effects were AMAZING. Ok, so maybe I’m a Star Wars geek. I don’t care. I was taken back to not quite ten years old when my Aunt and Uncle, with my cousins, took me to see the original episode (A New Hope) in the summer of 1977.

After the movie we went out to dinner. It was a lovely time with my guys. Bridgeport was beautiful at night. As we were walking back to our car, we experienced some snow. No, not the real kind that my guys are longing for. This was a machine that spewed out soap bubbles. It really looked like snow.

I’ll be back to chat with you some more after Christmas.

Until then, I pray that God blesses and keeps you in this most joyous time of year when we celebrate the advent of our Savior.

Hugs,
Karen
